Common Questions, Answered Properly

Most flooring decisions come down to a handful of questions. These are the ones we get asked on nearly every quote.

"Which material should I actually buy?"

Almost always a question about moisture and traffic rather than appearance. Below grade or on a concrete slab you need something genuinely waterproof, which rules out laminate and engineered wood no matter what the packaging suggests. Above grade, the choice opens up and comes down to how much traffic the room takes and how it should feel underfoot. Vinyl plank vs. laminate covers the comparison people ask about most, and our services overview walks through matching material to space.

"What is this going to cost?"

The honest answer is that square footage is only part of it. Subfloor condition, removing old flooring, furniture, and building access all move the number — which is why quotes given over the phone without seeing the space tend to change later. What it costs to floor a basement in Ontario breaks down where the money actually goes on a typical job.

"What do I need to do before installation day?"

Less than most people expect, but a few things genuinely speed the job up — and in condos, elevator bookings and insurance paperwork need sorting well in advance. Our installation day checklist covers it.

"I'm a landlord — what holds up?"

Different problem entirely. Rental flooring is judged on how cheaply and quickly it can be made to look new again between tenants, not on premium finishes. The best flooring for rental units covers what survives turnover, and our property management page explains how we handle multi-unit work.
